The Purpose:

This blog is to archive my journey through the technological universe! I am embarking on learning the most up-to-date technology for the purpose of using it in my future classroom. As a Master's student in Secondary English Education, I want to know all that I can about technology and maximizing its potential in my classroom. I am sure there will be some bumps in the road, but I am very excited and look forward to sharing with you the technological wisdom I (hopefully) acquire!

Reflection of Evaluation Activity

I found this activity very helpful. Evaluation websites is harder than it seems! There is a lot to consider beside how the website looks...accuracy and credentials are huge, and need to be dug out before deciding whether or not the site is truly good. Also, websites seem to have all this neat and informative material, but before a teacher can decide to use this stuff, he or she needs to make sure it all works properly. For instance, my site, teachingEnglishwithtechnology.org, had tons of YouTube videos containing movie clips, lectures from very knowledgeable people, and ideas for activity. I clicked on many, and they all worked except for one, which would have good to know if I was planning on teaching that material.
This activity was a very practical way to learn the objectives for evaluating websites. Reading the "things to consider" points is helpful, but actually getting into a website and trying it out is much more likely to stick with me. I will remember the important aspects of this concept much easier now.
