The Purpose:

This blog is to archive my journey through the technological universe! I am embarking on learning the most up-to-date technology for the purpose of using it in my future classroom. As a Master's student in Secondary English Education, I want to know all that I can about technology and maximizing its potential in my classroom. I am sure there will be some bumps in the road, but I am very excited and look forward to sharing with you the technological wisdom I (hopefully) acquire!

WebQuests Ahoy!

Today was WebQuests....what a cool teaching tool. I can definitely see myself using them in my classroom. There is a lot to learn, however, for them to be well-done. Going through the exercise today, I realized that a poorly comprised WebQuest can be confusing and detrimental to the student's learning. They need the right blend of graphics, challenging content and questions, and focus in order to reach the student and enhance the material being taught. When these components come together, WebQuests can be both fun and very educational!
I really like the structure of WebQuests. I think the consistent layout would be beneficial for students, clearly guiding them to the point of the assignment, the information, and the process they need to follow in order to solve the problems or answer the questions of the WebQuest.
I look forward to researching WebQuests further and ultimately creating one!
